Global Transactions and Intercultural Competence

Why Global Transactions and Intercultural Competence?

Are you interested in learning how to cope with intercultural complexities to improve your career prospects?

Whatever your job will be after graduation you are likely to be working in culturally complex contexts. Companies and organisations are increasingly becoming more intercultural and seeking employees with both a solid academic background and strong personal skills of cooperating across cultural boundaries.

This course will introduce you to a variety of factors contributing to the increase in intercultural exchanges. The course will particularly focus on how global companies face different intercultural challenges. Representatives from global companies will be invited to present their intercultural challenges and discuss solutions with you. You will also be working on a project based on authentic case studies of intercultural challenges to present for final assessment.

The overall aim of the course is to provide you with theoretical insights and tools to analyse culturally complex situations so that you may act and communicate successfully in different intercultural contexts.

The course will be taught over three weeks: the first week is based on e-learning with online teaching and the following two weeks you attend classes on campus in Aarhus. The course is concluded with a written exam paper to be handed in two weeks after the course has ended.

The course takes place online July 25-29 and on campus August 1-12.
